Week 9 - October 22, 2014

October 23, 2014

These kids have a lot to focus on in the next several days... there is a lot of hard work ahead... it will be a ton of fun... if everyone works together!

To help our kids "get their head in the game", please remind them to be at all practices - ready to go BEFORE practice starts.  That means on the field, at attention and ready to work the minute rehearsal starts.

There is an old band adage.... If you are early, you are on time... If you are on time, you are late....

Lets get 'em there ready to go!

Hey Band Families!

It's time!

This weekend - game at Hawk Stadium vs. Hendrickson.  The game is guaranteed to be a good one - and the halftime show -  even better!  Two great football teams - two great bands.... This is going to be a fun Friday Night!  Parking at Hawk Stadium is tough, so you might want to get there early.

If you want to stop for dinner first, the Dragon Nation family  (football, cheer, band, Dragonette, etc.) is gathering around 5:45 at the Chilis at 18901 Limestone Commercial Drive, Pflugerville, Texas.   Then we will all head over to the game together to cheer the Dragons!

What are you doing Saturday?  Did you know for $5, you can witness an all-day world class marching competition happening in San Antonio!  Come watch The Dragon Band as they compete in the UIL Area D Marching Contest, Heroes Stadium, San Antonio, Texas. 4799 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio, TX 78233.   Click here for the map to the stadium.    Band is set to march at 2:45. (Check the files page at dragonband.com for the day's schedule.)

All our parking lot crews - the Pit Crew - the Prop Crew - the Podium Peeps - the Guard Liaisons... are all going to be in full swing Saturday.  The team coordinators will be getting with the core groups with all the information - as our schedules are worked out.  But more help is always welcome.  If you want to join one of the crew, click on this link for a list of all the current signups.s -Signupgenius.com .

Next week is Homecoming Week - Complete with Pep Rallies, Parades, Games, Competitions - and a Car Raffle.

Please plan on joining the Band - Football Team - Drill Team - Choir - Ballet Folklorico - and the community at large for the annual Homecoming Parade - Wednesday, October 29  - followed by a community Pep Rally at Dragon Stadium!  It's going to be a great night!  The schedule for all next week's  special events can be found on the band website.

Our BOA performance time in San Antonio on 10/31  is listed on the schedule as 1p.m.  - Even if you are on a loading crew after the performance, everyone should have more than enough time to make it back to the stadium.  Please talk this up with your friends/acquaintances/babysitters... etc.    This is traditionally the most profitable concession stand of the year!  We really do need a lot more help... and it's that time... we need to start filling those shifts.  We need quite a few more volunteers to get those concession stands running smoothly!  Please sign up for a shift.

In 9 days - we will have our first car raffle complete - and one of YOUR tickets is going to be the winning ticket!

We have sold about 2,000 tickets to date.  The goal is to pass 3,000 tickets sold... Lets do it!

The FINAL ticket turn in date is Tuesday, October 28 from 6 - 7:15 pm in the practice rooms in the hallway adjacent to the band hall.

ALL TICKETS - SOLD OR UNSOLD -                        are to be turned in at that collection date.
