OCTOBER 8, 2014

Hey Band Families!

We are moving at a fast pace  from here through the first week in November.... Next stop... Westlake!  We have made a few changes to our schedule this week, and there are several events that need more participation from our volunteers.

I know there's a  lot of information here, but there are time changes, and some new information... I hope you can take a moment to read through the signup to get up to date!

Here we go...

CAR RAFFLE TICKET STUB/MONEY TURN-IN - TOMORROW NIGHT - OCTOBER 9 from 6:30-7:30 in the rehearsal rooms (note - we are moving inside - not under the tree as originally planned.)  This is THE night to turn your SOLD tickets and money in.  We have 23 days to the raffle... if you have been holding on till the last minute to sell your tickets... it's time!

To sign up to help with raffle tickets, follow this link... http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4dabaf28a13-201415

We will not be bringing the props out to the game Friday night.... If you have signed up to volunteer - enjoy the night off - and - of course - consider signing up to help with props for Westlake, UIL and more!  Here's the link  to sign up!http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4dabaf28a13-201416

October 11 is Westlake - and you know what that means (no- not rain - not this year please!) It means its time for the DragonBand Westlake Tailgate!  You can find all the details on the signup... This year it's a bring-your-own-dinner and an appetizer and dessert potluck.... Join the rest of your DragonBand Families for a time of fellowship and fun!    We will have our "camp" set up throughout the day.  Kathy will begin setting up around 2 - feel free to drop off your snacks/desserts and stay for a visit!  Come and go throughout the day.  Our big "Dragon Band Family gathering" will be at 6:00...Here's the link.... http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f044faba6283-westlake

October 18, 2014

Round Rock High School is hosting the October 18 UIL Region Marching Competition.  While it will be a smaller scale competition than most, it is vital that we have all our volunteer opportunities for this day filled.  Now is the time to sign up if you have not done so.  Pulling off this competition is important for the band this year - and it is important for Dragon Bands of the future... The ability to host marching tournaments in the future depends on the success of the tournaments we host today!  Each band family is asked to help... If you have signed up - it is VITAL that you show up for your designated shift.... each job is key!  If you have not signed up... here's the link.....http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4dabaf28a13-uilregion

Our band will be performing last (9:15) which means most jobs will be over or you will be able to take a break (example: concessions will be done so you can go watch the band and then go back to finish clean up) to be able to watch the performance.  Please be sure to wear your Dragon Band apparel when volunteering (Arabian Nights show shirt if you have one!).

Some of the jobs that still need help - Parking Directors, Ticketing,   Band Escorts

LOTS of help still needed for   Concessions, Volunteer Hospitality, Warm up monitors and Gate monitors

HOMECOMING CONCESSION HELP NEEDED! - Our Concession stand for homecoming is looking a bit better, but we still have 34 spots open - to bet by that night.... a couple dozen spots that need to be filled.  This will be our largest money-making night of the year - and we need all available hands on deck!  Here's the link... http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4dabaf28a13-20146

We are full swing into the marching season and there will be a ton of late nights, next day performances, etc.  Now is the time to purchase that 2nd pair of compression shorts.

Band-a-thon shirts are ready for pick-up Friday night.  Stop by the spirit

Visit Rock Band Spirit Wear Friday night!!!!

SOMETHING BORROWED... Next weekend (for Market Days), we need to borrow (4 )thirty-pound sand bags to help keep our awning in place.  And we could use those same sand bags (and possibly several more) again Saturday, October 18 for the marching contest.  Additionally, we are looking for a couple more awnings to use around the Kelly Reeves facility.  If you have any of these items that we can borrow, please let us know... rrbbvc@yahoo.com

We are currently running the numbers and a check will be sent to Music Travel by the end of the week to be applied to your student's individual travel account.  The payment should average betwen $85-$100.  Again, the amount will be finalized by the end of the week, and we will notify all the parents once that payment has been made.  Additionally, if we exceed the minimum $20,000 profit from the car raffle, those funds will be sent along to Music Travel as well.  (So sell those tickets!)  We will keep you up to date as the information comes available.

ONE LAST NOTE - TOURNAMENT OF ROSES PARADE TICKETS!!!  If you plan on purchasing tickets to sit in the block with the Dragon Band Families - you only have a few days left to purchase!  Deadline to order those tickets is October 15... be sure to contact Music Travel or Rochelle Zimmerman, Rochelle.zimmerman@gmail.com; ?(our parent liaison) for details...
