This Week's Volunteer News
First, we would like to congratulate Bobby Hill - Clarinet , Eric Lennartson - Percussion, and Trent Whiteman - Trombone, for making the Region Orchestra. All three made 1st chair! Well done!
Thank you to the volunteers who helped at concession Friday and to everyone who brought goodies for the band celebration. The kids had a great time.
Playoff season is a "play it by ear" type schedule. Each week's time/date/location is determined after all the playoff games for that weekend are completed. Flexibility is the key! Concessions will continue throughout the playoff season - whether we move on - or not... and details will be released as soon as we receive them. Please note that volunteer spots will be be released sometimes as late as Monday night - that will need to be filled by Thursday or Friday night. Everyone is encouraged to answer the call as these games and volunteer needs come up. Here's the link to sign up to represent The Dragon Band and help out!
THIS WEEK: RRISD is hosting 3 playoff games - two Friday night and one Saturday. We are required to provide 12 volunteers Friday night - and if you can't make it out to Waller, but still want to support RR, you are more than welcome to help fill some of the vacant spots in the concessions Saturday. FOOTBALL PLAYOFF INFORMATION
Next up... hope you were able to make it out to the game last Friday night.... that was one of the most exciting Friday night football games I've seen in a while. Congratulations Dragons! Bi-District Champions!
Many factors will go in to determining if the band will be performing the show at halftime this week - keep an eye out for any notifications from the directors as to their decision. One way or the other, the band WILL be in the stands playing for the team.... it's going to be a fun game and you will want to be there!!!

This week's game will be played at 2:00 in Waller, Texas, between Brenham and Houston. If you can't make it to the game, there will be a large send-off at the school at 9 am Saturday morning... We are hoping for a great Dragon Nation crowd to cheer them on!
Tickets are on sale in the 400 office this week. You can pre-purchase your general admission tickets as follows:

If you are not able to go, but your band student has siblings or friends that want to go ... there's a bus heading over there! Here's the link the link for the Fan Bus. If you plan on driving, here's the directions: Waller ISD New Football Stadium- 20735 Stokes Road, Waller, TX 77484 - is located north of Hwy 290, take the FM 2920 exit, go through the light and turn right on Stokes Road. Stadium is approximately 1 mile on the left.

Hey band families! The boosters are working on an exciting opportunity for all of our families. We have contracted with GOAL Productions, a video production company in California, to document our band’s bucket list trip! They will film our Bandfest performance, as well as our appearance in the Tournament of Roses Parade! This will be a small fundraiser and we are keeping the costs to our families as low as possible - $25 for the first video and $20 for each additional video you purchase. Order forms will be going out after Thanksgiving break, so talk to Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles to see if they would like a copy of this keepsake. (Anything we sell is classified as a fundraiser. This is not intended to raise money for the band. Prices have a cushion to make sure we don’t lose money. Depending on how many are purchased the income will be pennies per video.)

Our 3rd Annual Winter Guard Gala will be held on Saturday, January 17th in the 1100 building, 6p-9p. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Dear 2015 Band Participant,
Have you been thinking about President Chinen’s theme “Inspiring Stories?” We want you to share your stories with us and we recently launched a sweepstakes and social media campaign to highlight this year’s theme. Will you help us spread the word?
We encourage you and your social network, to submit an inspiring story with #RoseParade and #Inspiring on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It can be as simple as a photo of your family, a sentence about an amazing friend or a video about what inspires you every day.
