Family Picnic/Parent Preview... IT'S TONIGHT!

Hey Band Families!!! 

Wow!  Tuesday night's event was amazing.  What an extraordinary family - both the  Jaillet family, and the Dragon Family at large.  Thank you also to Maurice Robertson at Home Depot, Corner Bakery, Freddy's, and Bush's Chicken as well as Henry Huey and Jim Machajewski  - for their generosity in helping pull this thing together!    We just received notice that KVUE has our video on their home page... check it out...

Please note that if you would like to make a donation to the ALS fund... the address is   Students will be on hand with a bucket to collect any cash donations at Parent Preview - and we will forward those in one lump sum to the ALS fund.



Thursday, August 21

This is an exciting night.  It's the first night the students get to run the show without their dots... its the first time they run the show in their summer uniform... and its the first time we parents get to join together to see what our kids have been up to this summer!

Please remember to drop of your clothing donations on your way in!  (If you have a truck and would like to help move the donations, your help will be be appreciated!)

Thursday Schedule

5:00pm All students arrive - dressed, ready to move to stadium for photos

5:15pm Move to stadium 

5:30pm Photos for group 1, food for group 2 (Group 1 is WW and Percussion, Group 2 is Brass and Guard)

6:15pm Photos for group 2, food for group 1

7:00pm Wam up in sections

7:30pm Welcome, introductions, booster things, then parent preview


Saturday, August 23

9:00am Students arrive, turn in money to their rank leaders

10:30(ishDeepwood Elementary water break and concert arcs for Part 1, School Song and Fight Song

11:45(ish) Arrive, put things away and head home

Closets to Cash

  • Boosters will collect clothing, assemble boxes, load trailer
  • Boosters will collect band a thon money from leadership, count and deposit 
  • Boosters will hand out water and such at Deepwood



Packing Days - Friday and Saturday

If you have a hand truck - please consider bringing it with you -

it will help with the loading process!



Thank you to all our band parents and student volunteers who have been working to get this year off to a great start!  

Now is the perfect time to start testing the waters with the variety of volunteer opportunities!  We have props, and pit crew, and podium peeps.  Uniforms, and concessions and spirit sales are on the near horizon....   


Consider this  is your invitation to join in!  


Just a few reminders:

1)  Continue securing your student's sponsors for band-a-thon!  It is a great way to help fund the band - and anything over $150 collected will be applied directly to your student's account!  All funds are due to be turned in Saturday morning before the band heads out for the march!

2)  Closets to Cash - Bring your donated items to the Family Picnic this Thursday night!

3)  Car Raffle Tickets - If you have already sold your alotted 10 tickets, and want to turn in your money and stubs AND/or pick up more for sale,  Alison will be under the shade trees at 5:30 tonight and then she will be set up in the  concession stand Thursday night as well. Please remember:  students are not allowed to handle raffle tickets or money.    

So... you know we have volunteer needs... and you want to help!  But, where can you start?
