Dragon Nation Gathering - This Friday
Have you gotten into the habit of stopping by the Dragon Wagon and tailgate party in the parking lot before the home games? (If not, check it out 10-10). Wondering what to do when ithere is an away game? No worries! Football... Band... Dragonette... All Dragon Nation Families are invited to a restaurant "tailgate" at Baby A's on IH 35 from 5:00-6:30. Go Rock!
Thanks to everyone who came out in the rain Thursday night to turn in those raffle tickets you have sold. We have "broken even" on the cost of the raffle and from this point on - every penny turned in will benefit The Dragon Band program! (The next $20,000 that comes in goes to the general funds of the band program... and if we exceed $20,000 profit, any excess will be added to our trip fund to be divided up equally between the band students' travel accounts.) Keep selling those tickets!

If you are interested in selling tickets at Round Rock Market Days - October 11 - we are going to have a booth set up - 2 hour shifts - from 9-4. The volunteers who work that last shift will have plenty of time to make it down to Westlake for the finals round of the competition. Competitions and Games!
Friday night - football in Pflugerville - Saturday - first major competition of the year, BOA - Austin - to be held at Kelly Reeves.
The Saturday schedule is posted in the Members Only - Files page at dragonband.com. If you have never been to a marching competition before, plan on coming out for the day. It really is a lot of fun to see the variety in uniforms, marching styles, and shows... If you are on the fence - just go! Tickets are $16 for prelims, $16 for finals, or a combo pack for $25. Parking is extra.
We will have quite a few volunteer spots for the weekend - trucks, chaperons, podiums and props - it's an all-out volunteer extravaganza!
Field Props are a new addition to the mix this week - and we are going to need a LOT of people to help put those things together in the parking lot Saturday afternoon (and take them down and put them away at the end of the night!). Most volunteers will be able to finish assembly of the props and still return to the stands in time to watch the performance. We may still need a few volunteers for the competition day meal distribution - check the signup if you would like to help with the meal distribution.
Next week is our bye week No Game - No Competition... (In other words, next week is the time to rest up!...It's full steam ahead from that point on!)
Game Day Meals
This week's game day meal will be provided by Jimmy Johns. Cost is $8.00 each and includes an 8” Sub Sandwich, Chips, Cookie, Water. Subs will have lettuce and tomatoes . Orders must be turned in the band hall no later than 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. Click here to download the form.
Festival of Bands
The band's next performance will be at the Festival of Bands on October 6 at Kelly Reeves. Again - come for our performance -but stay for the whole thing! It's a fun night to look at the strength of the Fine Arts Program in Round Rock ISD... And the finale - well - it's something you just don't want to miss! .Volunteers are still needed for chaperones and podiums. We will also have Spirit Sales and Raffle Tickets available for sale at the event... Click on the links to sign up to help.

Coming soon to a band near you!
We have a particular need for volunteers to staff the 10/31 Concession stands... This is the Homecoming Game v. Westwood. Stands will be at capacity.... and many of our volunteers will be helping in San Antonio... unable to make it to the concession stands in time.... If you are in Round Rock for the homecoming game - all volunteers are welcome! Middle School Parents are strongly encouraged to help fill some of these vacant spots!
