Hey Band Families!!!

It was nice to see so many of our Dragon Band family members at the banquet this past Saturday night.  For those who were unable to attend, we missed you.  It was a great celebration of the year, and a glimpse into the future... and that future looks bright!

Thank you to Kathy Brock and Lisa Bone, along with student leadership and all the volunteers who put this year's banquet together.  And thank you as well to Alison Shoepe for getting the slide show together.  It was a nice way to celebrate this Extra-ordinary year.  

Once banquet is complete, it signals the time to begin wrapping up things up and transitioning on to next year's activities.  Planning is already in its beginning stages for Everything Day, and next year's fundraising.  You can find out about these things and more at the May 12 band booster meeting to be held at 7:30 in the band hall.  We will be electing the new board for the 2015-16 school year... and much more... But you don't have to wait till the 12th to get involved... There are still several ways to participate right now... read on!

  • This is the last week to take orders for the Sheet Sale - this is a school fundraiser for the band to boost the activity account.  Sheet Sale - Order forms are available from the band directors.  High quality sheets, Extremely good pricing... and it will benefit the activity fund!  While this is particularly focused on the Guard students, ALL students are encouraged to pick up a packet and help!  (30 minutes on my Facebook page and already had orders for 4 sets of sheets!  This really is a good deal!)  Forms and payment (made out to RRHS Band - NOT boosters - are due to the school May 6.  (Really - there are no late orders for this one!)
  • The Jazz Band has the opportunity to perform at the May 26th Round Rock Express Game.... Its a great opportunity for our students, and it will be a fun night for our families.  Discount tickets are available to Dragon Band families - $10.83 will get you an excellent seat (and $3 of each ticket sale will go back to our band program!)  It's going to be a fun night for Dragon Band families to sit back, relax, and watch a game of baseball with 100 of your closest friends.  (Don't forget to wear your Dragon Band attire so we can be seen throughout the park!)  To get your tickets... Order on line at www.ticketreturn.com , user name is: roundrock and passcode is: dragons
  • New Parent Night:  Boosters will host "Bring a Snack and Band Pride to Share" on Monday May 18th outside Band Hall to welcome new families as their kids start Dragon Marching Camp.  We will provide the tea.  Bring a snack to share, a folding chair and join us in welcoming them to our Dragon Band family!

This is the last week to register for the Golf Tournament!

NOW IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR GOLF TEAMS TOGETHER AND SIGN UP!  TODAY!  Deadline to register is May 6.  

Are you a golfer?  Someone in your family a golfer?  Do you know a golfer?  Do you work in a place that might have golfers?  If you answered "YES" to any of these questions... YOU CAN HELP!  The golf tournament is looking for golfers and you can help by spreading the word!  Registration is open and prizes are coming in for the raffle!  It's going to be a great time!  So spread the word!  Visit us at http://dragonbandgolf.golfreg.com and tell everyone that Saturday, May 16th at Teravista Golf Club is the place to be!  Lets cap off the last fundraiser of the year with a bang!!!

WANT TO HELP?

We need help on the day of the Golf Tournament to make it another success!  We need several people throughout the day to help with things like: setup/cleanup; raffle, mulligan, sissy tees sales; distribute goodie bags; sign in golfers; coordinate signs for the event; serve as the photographer for the day, etc.   Our helpers will need to be there at 6 am so that we can set up and get the golfers registered by 8 am.  We will have some down time during the tournament and we will need everyone's help during the lunch and raffle/awards presentation.  We should be done around 2 pm.  Click here if you'd like to come out to help!!!

 

JAZZ BAND TO PLAY AT THE RR EXPRESS GAME!

Join our awesome Jazz Band on Tuesday May 26th at Dell Diamond as they play the National Anthem, then stay and enjoy some great baseball.  Discount tickets are $10.83 and $3 of each ticket sale goes directly back to our Band Program!!  Please share this information and invite your friends.  We need to sell 100 tickets to make this thing happen.  Go to www.ticketreturn.com (Username:  roundrock  Password:  dragons) to purchase your tickets online.  Please share the link with friends and family as we need to sell 100 tickets…and the more we sell the more our Band program gets!  And... the more fun we will have!  Let's fill the stadium with Dragon Maroon!!

MATTRESS SALE FUNDRAISER - 

Don’t forget to join the Facebook event for the Mattress Sale Fundraiser.  If we get 10,000 invites, CFS will add an additional $250 (more free money) on to our total fundraising goal!  Take a few minutes to help us reach our $10,000 goal today and see you at the booster meeting! The 3rd Annual Mattress Sale will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 10am to 5pm in the RRHS Band Hall.  Here's the link to the Facebook Event.  

 

DELL DIAMOND CONCESSIONS ARE GOING STRONG!

Thanks to all the volunteers who have already been out to work concessions at the ball park!   If you are looking for us, we were moved to Fairlanes Grill - which is located at the main entrance of the ballpark.    Remember!  On Thursday-Sundays - if you are at the ball park, come get your hotdogs and snacks at Fairlanes!

If you are signed up to work and haven't done so yet, please be sure to email a copy of your WilCo Food Handler's card (and TABC card if applicable) to Joyce Nelson at dragonbandconcessions@gmail.com  - as soon as possible.  She does have to get those filed with RS3 about a week in advance. If you are not sure if your license is already on file, or if it is still valid, Joyce can check for you. There's more information about training on our website.

The schedule is filling in nicely!  While we have assigned section nights, but please don't feel locked in to those specific nights... you are free to work any night on the schedule!  Most of our nights for the next couple weeks are filled!  Thanks!  Currently, we DO have the following  vacancies for the next few homestands:  

5/13 (Wednesday day game) - 1 TABC and 4 runners 

5/14  (Trumpet Night) - 3 TABC and 4 runners

5/15 (Guard Night) - 4 TABC and 4 runners

  A significant portion of next year's operating budget relies on this income - and without volunteers, we cannot meet the budget - and therefore cannot serve the needs of the band.   We can do this!  This is fun!

Creekside Charity BINGO –

THIS IS PRIMARY SOURCE OF INCOME FOR THE BAND!

Did you hear?  Renovations are underway!  New chairs and tables are in... painting the walls and replacing the ceiling tiles are in the works as well! The place is getting a great new look!   Come check it out!   Monday, Tuesday or Saturday night (and often Fridays as well).  It is in the process of renovating, new chairs have already arrived.... New tables any day.... and a painting project will be complete in a few weeks!  Its going to look great!     Our band's major source of income is through our association with  Creekside Charity Bingo.

KAREN BARNETT MEMORIAL FUND

A memorial fund to offset expenses has been set up at First Texas Bank and checks can be made out to First Texas Bank - be certain to include "Karen Barnett" in the memo line. The account will be kept open for 60 days.  The funds will be available to the Barnetts as they need it during that time and if it goes beyond what is needed for the funeral or medical expenses, the remaining balance will be given to the family or converted into their own separate account, depending on the amount of funds received.Checks can be dropped off at any First Texas Bank branch or can be mailed to:

GO FUND ME ACCOUNT FOR MR. ALVARADO'S FAMILY

As some of you may have already heard, our lead custodian here at RRHS, Tony Alvarado is trying to raise money for his wife. His wife, Debra, recently suffered a stroke and passed a blood clot through her heart, which caused paralysis on the right side of her body. Funds are being raised to help defray the cost of rehabilitation.
