Hey Band Families!!!
Before we close out the year, I want to send out some thanks.
- To The Dragon Band students - People often use the phrase "kids these days...." in a negative tone. Thanks to this particular group of kids, that phrase takes on a totally different perspective. You give hope and faith in the future. To watch you face challenges, struggle, persist and achieve is encouraging.
- To our parents - your dedication to your kids, their education, their friends and the community is commendable. Driving them early, picking them up late. And waiting... lots and lots of waiting. But not only that... your willingness to come together - to plan and build, to work in the heat, and cold, and Westlake rains... Who knew - at this age - that there would be so many opportunities to work side by side with some of the best people in the world...? I've never worked as hard or laughed as much, as I have with this group of people! You are the best!
- I'd like to thank my fellow board members - current year, as well as the past boards as well. Your determination, hard work and dedication inspire me every day to be a better person.
- To our directors... there are not enough words to express the gratitude for all you have given our kids.
- It has been an honor to get to spend these past 4 years with this group.
To the 2015-16 Executive Board - good luck, have fun... and... in the words of a wise man "just make it great"!
NOW - BACK TO BUSINESS!
There are still a few things going on right now - and a couple carry-overs into the summer season.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE FOR 2015-16 SCHOOL YEAR
"Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen." - John Steinbeck
Calling on all parents!! Have an idea for a new fundraiser? Have a new idea or approach for an old fundraiser? We are always looking for fresh ideas on how we can raise money and we're always looking for creative ways to do this! We're having a brainstorming session we want to hear from you! We only ask you consider the following theme for your idea..."How do we get the community involved?" If you would like to be a part of that conversation, sign up and we'll send you a place and time to join in on the discussion. Hope to see you there! HERE'S THE LINK.
We are beginning to put together our "roady" team... those folks who get our trucks to and from the school, and drive them to events. Just a standard driver license is needed to drive the trucks, but we do have some forms and such we need to do for the district. GO FUND ME ACCOUNT FOR MR. ALVARADO'S FAMILY
As some of you may have already heard, our lead custodian here at RRHS, Tony Alvarado is trying to raise money for his wife. His wife, Debra, recently suffered a stroke and passed a blood clot through her heart, which caused paralysis on the right side of her body. Funds are being raised to help defray the cost of rehabilitation. So far they have only raised $1,645 of their $8,000 goal. If you would like to help contribute, please do so by following this link.... http://www.gofundme.com/qdrns4
