RRBB Car Raffle Rules & Regulations

You must be 18 years old or older to purchase a raffle ticket. Only (1) individual may be identified as the purchaser (or buyer/owner) of a raffle ticket. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. Your ticket stub will serve as your confirmation/receipt of purchase. Raffle tickets are not transferable. Round Rock Band Boosters and its board, volunteers, and members assume no liability for lost, misdirected, mutilated, illegible, or incomplete tickets.  Such tickets shall be deemed invalid and shall be immediately disqualified. Current Dragon Band directors, Round Rock Band Booster President, Vice President of Fundraising and their immediate family members (related by blood and living in the same household) are not eligible to win. By entering the raffle, the ticket purchaser acknowledges that he or she is aware of and agrees with these raffle official rules.

Tickets will not be sold after the start of the third quarter of the football game on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Tickets may sell out before that time.  All entries for the RRBB Car raffle must be received by the start of the third quarter of the football game on Thursday, November 7, 2019 to be eligible for the drawing.

Winners will be notified on November 8th, 2019 if they are not present at the time the numbers are drawn.  RRBB reserves the right not to accept entries at their discretion.

Numbers will be drawn for alternate winners in the event a winner does not claim their prize after 60 days of being notified.  An alternate will be drawn for the 1st Place prize, the 2nd Place prize and the 3rd Place prize.  On the 61st day, the alternate winner will be notified that the original winner did not claim their prize.  In the event the car is unclaimed, the alternate winner will be liable for the taxes noted below under “Taxes and IRS Rules” as if they were originally chosen as the winner.

All purchases of raffle tickets are final and non-refundable. The approximate retail value of the vehicle is $22,000.

Winners will be selected in a random drawing conducted at Dragon Stadium in Round Rock, TX on Thursday, November 7, 2019.  In the event of inclement weather, the drawing will be moved to the Round Rock High School band hall.  All attempts to contact the RRBB Car Raffle ticket purchaser shall be made using the name, address, phone number, and email address provided on the ticket stub. A second ticket will be drawn and serve as an alternate winner if after 60 calendar days the owner of the first ticket drawn does not claim the prize, or in the case RRBB is unable to establish contact with said owner of the first ticket drawn.

The RRBB Car Raffle winner shall have 60 calendar days from notification of winning to claim the prize. If the selected winner is unable to be contacted/located after a period of 60 calendar days from the drawing date or if the selected winner does not claim their prize after having been successfully notified after 60 days, the prize will be awarded to the purchaser/owner of the alternate ticket drawn on original date of drawing. All winners, by entering, authorizes RRBB to publish their name and likeness on their website, in local news media, and in other promotional materials used for the raffle.

The RRBB Car Raffle winner shall be responsible for any and all federal, state and local income or excise taxes, fees, assessments and like charges associated with the prize prior to the receipt of the vehicle. The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries or similar programs are not gifts and, therefore, the price of the ticket does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution.   The winner is liable for a tax withholding of 25% of the value of the vehicle ($22,000 x 25% = ~$5,500).   Check with your qualified financial adviser for additional information.

Ticket purchasers, by participating (and winner, by accepting the vehicle) release RRBB and its respective board, committee members, volunteers, representatives, and sponsors from any and all liability with respect to participation in the promotion and possession or use of the prize awarded and also acknowledge that they did not receive any representations, warranty or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness. Any liability of RRBB shall be limited to ticket price paid and in the case of any dispute; RRBB’s decision shall be final. RRBB reserves the right to modify or amend these rules without notice at any time, so please read this page regularly to ensure that you are updated as to any changes. All decisions of the RRBB are deemed final.

The odds of winning a prize will depend on the number of tickets sold. If all 3,800 tickets are sold the odds of winning the Grand Prize is 1 in 3,800.

By participating in the RRBB Car Raffle, a participant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
